TRAINING FOR THE ORAL LANGAUGE ASSESSMENT OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S SECOND LANGUAGE EVALUATION
Who:

  • Present or future federal government employees.

Where:

  • Online or face to face.

When:

  • The course duration and class frequency are determined by the student’s learning objectives and current skill and language proficiency levels.

  • Convenient AM and PM schedules.

Why:

  • To prepare to successfully pass the PSC SLE OLA. The PSC SLE OLA is a standardized exam consisting of various questions at different levels of difficulty.

  • In order to receive a level B or C in oral proficiency, the candidate must demonstrate certain linguistic competencies to the assessor during the assessment.

How:

  • A comprehensive examination in order to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of the student's linguistic ability. 

  • A work plan to ensure the student learns and is able to apply the various English/French forms which are required for either a level B or C linguistic profile.

  • Interview simulations to prepare the student for the actual assessment.

ORAL LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT SIMULATION (PSC SLE OLA)

Who:  

  • Present or future government employees.

Where:

  • Online or face to face.

When:

  • One session (60 minutes).

Why:

  • To assess student's speaking level (A, B, or C).

How:

  • One full Test of Oral Proficiency Simulation that mirrors the PSC SLE OLA with an experienced trainer.

  • One full Oral Assessment Report that indicates the student's strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the actual PSC SLE OLA.

Note: Please note that the Oral Language Assessment Simulation is a simulation and the final score (A, B, or C) is not an official score of the Public Service Commission.

TRAINING FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S SECOND LANGUAGE EVALUATION TEST OF WRITTEN EXPRESSION

Who:

  • Present or future federal government employees.

Where:

  • Online or face to face.

When:

  • The course duration and class frequency are determined by the student’s learning objectives and current skill and language proficiency levels.

  • Convenient AM and PM schedules.

Why:

  • To prepare to successfully pass the PSC SLE TWE. The PSC SLE TWE is a standardized test consisting of 65 multiple choice questions which takes 1.5 hours to complete.

  • To learn and acquire certain essential grammatical structures and certain business-related writing expressions.

How:

  • A comprehensive examination in order to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of the student's linguistic ability.

  • A work plan to ensure the student learns the English/French required for either the level B or C linguistic profile.

  • Practice tests administered under similar test conditions.

TRAINING FOR PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S SECOND LANGUAGE EVALUATION TEST OF READING COMPREHENSION

Who:

  • Present or future federal government employees.

Where:

  • Online or face to face.

When:

  • The course duration and class frequency are determined by the student’s learning objectives and current skill and language proficiency levels.

  • Convenient AM and PM schedules.

Why:

  • To prepare to successfully pass the PSC SLE TRC. The PSC SLE TRC is a standardized 1.5 hour test consisting of 60 multiple choice test items.

  • To learn about the various test questions i.e. i.e. main idea, specific details, and inference.

How:

  • An assessment to determine the student’s level of proficiency in reading.

  • Extensive practice with the various test questions i.e. main idea, specific details, and inference.
